On England’s 1000th senior men's game, Nike celebrated the 93 black players that changed the face of the men’s national team. The UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro celebrated 1000 games at Wembley. The first black player was Viv Anderson in 1978 and the 93rd was Tyrone Mings who made his debut earlier in 2018.
Nike with the FA have honoured these players with a portrait and number that references their order in the 93. The portraits were displayed both outside and inside Wembley and their names were displayed on the perimeter boards, creating a takeover of the home of English football.
The portraits were made into social assets so that fans can share the players that inspired them the most.
As added detail, the typography of each number exactly mirrors the typography of the shirt the player debuted in.
